Allef

<meta />Once a proud, spacefaring empire, the Allef have become the most evocative example of hubris in the Ulmac Nebula. For centuries, the Allef Sovereignty controlled a rich and influential region of the nebula. Their proximity to the Naguli Empire led to frequent skirmishes and wars. For the majority of the conflicts, the Allefs superior shipmaking ability gave them the upper hand over their rivals, allowing the Sovereignty to hold off the Naguli threat and in many instances made gains into Naguli territory.

Appearance: Allef are tall, lithe humanoids with feline features, long tails, and are covered in soft fur. Most Allef fur colorations range from black and white to various shades of browns and blacks, but also can include shades of blue and green thanks to the unique radiation on several ancient Allef colony worlds. Allef have small, retractable claws they can use for climbing or in combat, and possess keen eyesight in dim conditions..

Society and Culture: Once the Allef Sovereignty ruled with undeniable might and power. The Sovereignty ruled as a hereditary, matriarchal monarchy; each world was ruled by a duchess while the Sovereignty as a whole was led from the royal palace on Fexin by a queen from the Kitset family.

The worlds that comprised the Sovereignty were some of the riches in minerals found in the Nebula. Great academies were founded, and many breakthroughs in science and engineering came at the hands of the Allef. Thanks to these advancements, the Allef accumulated vast wealth and lived an extravagant lifestyle. They lived a life of luxury and in some cases decadence. This attitude, coupled with the Allef sense of superiority towards all other Ulmac native species, caused envy from other empires and heightened tension among their neighbors.

Since the destruction of Fexin, the Allef had lost much of their bravado and arrogance. Now reduced to matriarchal tribes of nomads wandering the Nebula worlds, the Allef are a transient people, living where ever they can for as long as they are allowed before packing up and moving on. A handful of tribes are actively trying to unite the Allef into a great society once more, and attempt to restore the Allef to political power and prominence in the Nebula. Most Allef have given up on this dream, and see these tribes a zealots, but each passing year the “unification tribes” attract more and more members looking to return to the glory of the Sovereignty, or simply watch the rest of the Nebula empires burn.

The Allef are a race that has fallen upon hard times in recent memory. For centuries, they controlled a region of the Garden known as the Allef Domains. Their proximity to the Naguli Empire led to frequent skirmishes and wars. For the majority of the conflicts, the Allefs superior shipmaking ability gave them the upper hand, allowing them to hold off the Naguli threat and even resulting in several gains within Naguli territory.

Eventually, the conflict between the two empires drew in allies on both sides. The Republic of Kel joined the side of the Allef while the

  • Sort of elven, sort of feline; this is a species that once had a massive population and many colonies, but is now an endangered, transient species. Few pure-Allef colonies remain, most of them wander the The Garden alone or in small groups, trying to survive however they can. Because of their agility, thievery comes naturally to them and many have resorted to burglary to survive. As such, they have gained a reputation as troublemakers and a nuisance at best, and criminals at worst. Because they have no recognized government, they cannot become seated members of The Union.
  • The allef language will have a lot of cat-sounds to them
